Importing goods from China can be a lucrative business opportunity, but it requires careful planning and adherence to the necessary documentation. In this comprehensive guide, we will outline the essential documents you need to import goods from China and provide valuable insights to help you navigate the process smoothly.

  1. Company Registration:

Before engaging in import/export activities, ensure your company is duly registered with the relevant authorities, such as the PAN or VAT. This registration is a prerequisite for any import business.

  1. EXIM (Export-Import) Code:

Obtain an EXIM code, a unique identification number assigned to import/export companies or individuals. This code is crucial for tracking and monitoring international trade transactions.

To acquire an EXIM code, submit a bank guarantee of NPR 300,000 to the Revenue Department under the Ministry of Finance. (Note: We are creating a detailed video on this process for your reference.)

  1. Import Company Collaboration:

If you don’t have an EXIM code, consider collaborating with an established import company that already possesses one.

Import companies or agents may charge a fee for using their EXIM code. However, this allows you to import goods under their code, with payment being made to the import company rather than your own firm.

  1. VAT Bill:

After importing the goods, the import company will issue a VAT bill in the name of your registered firm. This bill is crucial for tax compliance and record-keeping purposes.

Importing goods from China requires meticulous attention to the necessary documentation. By following the steps outlined in this guide, including company registration, obtaining an EXIM code, and ensuring VAT compliance, you can embark on successful import ventures.
